Guggenheim Forum: Beyond Material Worth Launches

NEW YORK, NY.- For the latest installment of the Guggenheim Forum, which takes place February 22–26, the museum has invited thinkers from a variety of fields to discuss issues of sustainability and valuation that emerge from art that does away with physical product. Inspired by the work of Tino Sehgal, Beyond Material Worth will provide a platform for examining the great transitions underway in the global economy, which is moving away from materialistic overproduction and self-destructive practices toward more sustainable behaviors, and is mirrored by changes in art and its economies, both literal and symbolic. How do we negotiate this historical pass and the across-the-board shift in values it requires?
