Buckingham Co. and Indianapolis Museum of Art collaborate on new commissions for art hotel

INDIANAPOLIS, IN.- Buckingham Companies and the Indianapolis Museum of Art today announced that they are collaborating on the art program for The Alexander, a new hotel in downtown Indianapolis. An unprecedented 12 site-specific works have been commissioned for the hotel’s public spaces by artists such as Jorge Pardo, Jaume Plensa, Nina Katchadourian, Mark Fox, and others. Part of CityWay, a new four-block neighborhood encompassing residential, retail, offices spaces, a YMCA and public park, The Alexander, managed by Dolce hotels and resorts, will feature more than 40 works by more than 20 contemporary artists selected by Dr. Lisa Freiman, head of the IMA’s Contemporary Art department, and Veronica Roberts, Adjunct Associate Curator of Contemporary Art. Dr. Freiman served as Commissioner of the US Pavilion for the 2011 Venice Biennale and spearheaded the museum’s groundbreaking 100 Acres: The Virginia B. Fair
