Largest gathering of plein air artists in history to occur this April in Las Vegas’ Red Rock Resort

AUSTIN, TX.- The 1st Annual Plein Air Convention, the United States’ most significant gathering of American and international outdoor painters, will make its debut in Las Vegas at Red Rock Resort, Casino & Spa, April 12-15, 2012. The conference will be historic as the largest ever gathering of plein air artists.
Produced by PleinAir magazine, a publication that caters to artists who paint outdoors on location, the event is attracting artists from countries all over the world, including Russia, New Zealand, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Participants are expected to break the world record for the greatest number of artists painting on location at a single venue, when an anticipated 750 painters will set up their easels in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Keynoting the event is Richard Ormond of London, grand-nephew of famed painter John Singer Sargent, author of many Sargent books, and the world’s foremost expert on Sargent’s work.
