Muhammad Ali Memorabilia to Raise Over £7K for Parkinson’s United Kingdom at Bonhams

LONDON.- A collection of Muhammad Ali memorabilia, hand-signed and donated by the celebrated former boxer to Parkinson’s UK, a Parkinson’s disease charity, is to be sold at Bonhams, Chester as part of the Sporting Memorabilia sale on 20 October 2010. The three-time World Heavyweight Champion was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, a degenerative disorder of the nervous system, in 1984, aged 42. He has donated 22 lots to Parkinson’s UK to aid the research and support provided by the charity. One of the highlights is a boxing glove (estimate £600 – 800), on which he has written: “Service to others is the rent that we pay on earth for our room in heaven.” Other important items include a sketch by Ali (estimate £300 – 400); a black and white signed photograph of Ali (estimate £150 – 200); a collection of six pictures and associated letters (estimate £400 – 600); and a signed reprod
