LOS ANGELES (AP).- David Hockney is best known for his pop art. His latest project is pup art. The man who last year sold a painting called “Beverly Hills Housewife” for nearly $8 million has applied his brush to dog bowls for an upcoming auction. Bonhams & Butterfields will auction bowls painted by Hockney and five other artists on Nov. 23 in Los Angeles and San Francisco . The auction house expects to get between $2,500 and $3,500 for each 11-inch, signed and dated bowl. The other artists are Charles Arnoldi, Ross Bleckner, Robert Longo and Edward Ruscha and Kenny Scharf. Proceeds from the simultaneous auctions will benefit PAWS/LA. The group helps low-income seniors and those disabled by life-threatening illnesses keep and care for their pets.
